Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is plastic surgery in which the excess of fatty tissue is removed at the lower and upper eyelids area. In addition an adipose tissue as the sagging skin is removed. It is recommended for such people who are seeking plastic surgery with very thin and delicate skin around the eye area, who are 30 – 40 years old, who have the bags under his eyes, tired and unaesthetic appearance. As in the age or the case of correction the blepharoplasty is the only option.

Preparing for the plastic operation

Before the surgery, the doctor prescribes to make analyzes in order to learn about the health of the state of the patient, to determine whether contraindications are convenient to the use of local anesthesia. After passing the test, the doctor decides whether you can pass the operation. Two weeks before the blepharoplasty patient is not allowed to be in the sun and taking alcoholic beverages.

Anesthesia for blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty surgery is performed under local anesthesia. The patient is taken anesthetic injections by fine needle into the lower and upper eyelid, and the patient feels only a slight tingling sensation in the eyelids. Also, the patient is offered (optionally) to take sedatives.

The eyelids plastic surgery procedure

Eyelid surgery lasts forty minutes. The surgeon removes excess fat on both or one of the lids. At the same time the skin on the eyelid is sagging. The laser can be used to eliminate this disadvantage. Thin skin which is sensitive in the area of lids immediately responds to the impact of the laser beam. Under the influence of the laser the skin becomes taut and toned. The using of the laser during the blepharoplasty allows avoiding scarring of the eyelids after the surgery. After five days after the plastic operation the skin of the eyelid becomes pink and taut, as every patient who applied to the clinic dreamed. An incision is made on the eyelids using the same laser. The incision is made through the conjunctiva, the excess fat is removed. There are absolutely no any seams, because the incision heals itself after a laser - another plus of laser blepharoplasty. Afterwards the eyelid skin around the eyes is absolutely healthy, firm and taut. There are no scars on the skin because the skin is polished by laser.

Complications and risks associated with blepharoplasty

After surgery, the doctor encourages the patient to save eyes of loading the reading books and watching television long. It is recommended to spend more time to rest with hooded eyes. Within two weeks, is prohibited to stay in the sun and solarium. This is due to the fact that the tender skin after laser becomes particularly sensitive to the sunlight. The doctor also recommends that patients abstain from drinking alcoholic and smoking. If the patient before blepharoplasty wore contact lenses it is not recommended to put them on within two weeks. In general, eyelid surgery is safe enough. If the patient strictly follows all recommendations of the surgeon who performed blepharoplasty, the complications and risks are excluded. Following the instructions of the doctor, the patient gets rid of annoying problems with eyelids and bags under the eyes.
