Scar revision

Correction of scars after previous surgeries and injuries is a good reason to look for the help from a plastic surgeon. Correction of scars helps to eliminate not only the skin defect, and related psychological and aesthetic discomfort.

Types of scars:

  • normotrophic (are not protruded above the level of healthy skin, have a smoother skin design);
  • hypertrophic (are the growths of connective tissue, raised above the skin);
  • atrophy(below the skin, thinning, going to fold);
  • keloid (raised above the skin, tend to increase).

Methods for correction of scars:

Tripe is the result of healing of tissue defects by newly formed connective tissue. To completely remove the scar is impossible, but with the correction you can make it thinner, flatter and lighter, and therefore less noticeable.

Correction of rough scars from previous injuries and surgeries is divided into two groups:

surgery (correction of scars with excision);

medical treatment (laser skin resurfacing, dermabrasion, chemical peels, the use of drugs).

Correction of scars with excision

Correction of scars with excision is to remove scar tissue and suturing the wound with skin plastytechniques to create the conditions for optimal tissue healing. Typically, the correction of scar excision with the intradermal absorbable suture material is applied, do not require removal and provide continued support for the edges of the wound.

Correction of scars with a laser (chemical, mechanical) polishing

Correction of scars with laser resurfacing - a unique method for removing surface layers of cells and stimulation of the skin. Correction of scars with a laser beam does not leave any damage and promotes cell renewal. Laser resurfacing is used for leveling uneven skin on the edges of the scar. The width of the scar is not changed, but it becomes less noticeable.

The proper combination of these methods of correction of scars can make a scar hardly noticeable.
